I am very pleased to announce the launch of my new venture called threek, a boutique advisory firm dedicated to Web3 projects and investors with a particular focus on the provision of project structuring (legal, governance), financial and tax advice as well as management / board membership services.
Leveraging my long-lasting experience
The launch of threek represents a return of my career focus to a well-known territory which originally brought me into crypto / Web3. After gaining first-hand experience as a tax lawyer to a variety of crypto projects and exchanges during 2017 until 2019, I eventually migrated into an inhouse CFO role with Arweave in 2020. Arweave equipped me with a tremendous amount of insights, especially regarding the project‘s evolution from the end of the last crypto winter into the last crypto summer and and the question how to scale and solidify operations post-network launch. After another set of rewardful roles with KYVE (interim CFO and my current board membership) and Safe (Head of Finance), I feel fortunate to be back full-time in consulting leveraging all these insights gained over the last couple of years.
Raison d’être
Looking back in time, the biggest challenge for Web3 founders is ultimately to deal with a huge complexity from day 1. On one hand, founding and running a startup is never an easy home run, but navigating a ship in uncharted waters like in the case of the crypto vertical adds up to this. We were often left with situations when we as the project‘s executive team had to make decisions without having been able to access any wisdom from other experienced minds who faced and excelled in similar challenges in the past. We even had to recognise that the trusted advisors, although being extremely savvy and clever, were often confronted with the particular circumstances for the very first time. The high complexity circumstances paired with the fact that everyone is/was just learning on the job provide for a strategic risk or vulnerability to approach the decisions from a siloed or non-sufficiently holistic perspective which potentially results in suboptimal outcomes. In essence, I‘ve often missed the optionality of talking to a wise crypto-experienced voice to brainstorm and validate our internal or externally induced perspectives.

The term “threek” is a compound expression connecting Web3 (“three”) and the initial of my first name as the founding partner of threek, Kevin (“k”).
